I am Dr. Riedling Tamás, a specialist in oral and maxillofacial surgery, university lecturer and implantology trainer.
I began my professional journey at the University of Pécs Medical School, graduating in general medicine in 2017 and dentistry in 2023. Since 2017 I have been part of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Unit at the University of Pécs Clinical Centre’s Department of Dentistry and Oral Surgery. I passed my specialist examination in 2024 with an excellent result.
Teaching and sharing knowledge
Sharing the theoretical and practical knowledge I have gained is particularly important to me. Since 2018 I have been an appointed instructor leading Hungarian- and English-language practical sessions in the compulsory Oral Medicine subject. From the spring semester of 2026 I am responsible for half of its Hungarian-language lectures and practical sessions. Since 2025 I have also taught the elective subject on maxillofacial surgical case presentations, supporting students’ professional development in both languages.
Research, innovation and scientific work
One of the central pillars of my clinical work is the complex care of patients with medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ). As local principal investigator, I coordinate nationwide multicentre data collection on this condition. Under the research leadership of Dr. Mühl Attila, I also participate in research examining the prognosis and diagnosis of medication-related osteonecrosis using modern 3D SPECT-CT isotope imaging, and analysing vitamin D levels, which are crucial to bone metabolism, with chairside tests. I regularly present my findings at Hungarian conferences and authored the relevant chapter in the specialist book “Navigation in Dentistry and Oral Surgery”, published in December 2025.
Another main area of my research and practical interest is modern dental implantology. Through several years of close collaboration with Germany’s Bredent Group, we launched the official modular IFZI (International Training Centre for Dental Implantology) courses at the University of Pécs in 2025, for which I lead practical training. After completing several international masterclasses, including the anatomy course at Charité in Berlin, I was officially appointed an IFZI Trainer in May 2025.
My approach to patient care
“State-of-the-art digital technology in the service of patients: safety, precision and humanity.”
As a maxillofacial surgeon and implantologist, I always put the individual at the centre of care. I believe successful treatment is built on attentive care, respect and predictability. I do more than perform surgery or place implants: I help restore patients’ quality of life and confident smiles. I am passionate about the latest digital techniques and 3D planning because they make surgery precise and as gentle as possible. As both a teacher and a doctor, I strive to ensure that patients’ safety and peace of mind remain the true measure of success behind high-tech precision.
